The Short History of the Los Gauchos Outfitters Uruguay Duck Hunting Club

The "Duck Hunting Club" is modeled after a true sportsman's lodge. Combine this trip with high volume doves (comparable to Argentina's dove hunting) and decoying pigeons to give the shooter the best of all wingshooting options.
The Uruguay Duck Hunting Club or the Rio Branco Club is located near the Rio Branco (imagine that creativity!). Right in the midst of a private rice farm with hundreds of acres of rice crops and marshes and fields that ducks love and the ranchers love to have gone. Welcome to Uruguay duck hunting paradise.
Consistent duck hunting, top hunting equipment, comfortable accommodations, short (as in 5 to 15 minutes to the blind) and excellent food and professional guides that you want to return season after season to duck hunt with - this is the Rio Branco Lodge.

Uruguay duck hunting includes several species of ducks and the variety of consistency is non stop. The duck hunting season in Uruguay has opening day on May 1st and is fast and furious until September. Los Gauchos invites any water fowler to try the duck hunting in Uruguay just once. You will be hooked. Our team and office is based in the US and the owner, a fellow long time duck hunter, is usually there to answer specifics about Uruguay and the duck hunting set-up, equipment and seasonal activity of the Uruguay ducks.

The daily rate includes the guided duck hunting - both an AM duck hunt and the afternon duck hunt as well as the 3 meals (snacks and appetizers that you MUST try!) as well as beverages ranging from bottled water to soft drinks to the local Uruguay wines and beer. The shotguns are also a part of the Uruguay Duck Hunting Club package and tips. So let nothing hold you back from duck hunting in Uruguay.

*We are booking for the 2011 season, as the Uruguay Duck Hunting Club is a Los Gauchos classic and the season does book up quick. Rates will increase slightly for the 2011 season due to the flucuating value of the USD to the Uruguay peso. Rates for the 2011 season will be $599 per day per hunter.

Uruguay is a duck hunters paradise. WIth rice being a main export of Uruguay and this small country among the world's 8th largest rice exporter, duck hunters can be assured the environment is perfect for waterfowl. The duck hunting season in Uruguay is from May to August, with various species such as teal and rosy bill pochards, unique to South America. The Uruguay Duck Hunting Club uses trained retrievers which adds to this outstanding Uruguay duck hunting experience. Watching the labs retrieve more birds in a day than many do in an entire season in the states is a site to behold!

While the Uruguay Duck Hunting Club focuses on duck hunting and duck hunting right on the property, no long drives to fields, there are many other types of wingshooting opportunities in Uruguay.

The northwestern part of Uruguay provides some outstanding dove hunting for dove shooters looking for another option besides Cordoba, Argentina. Fly direct into Montevideo or Buenos Aires and be in the field shooting on your day of arrival. Lodging is first rate and non-shooters are always welcome.
